Front Office Staff:
With more than 30 years of combined experience, our front office staff is here to help you with scheduling needs, financing, and insurance questions. Their knowledge in these fields makes them our resident experts, and they strive to make your experience with us as pleasant as possible from the very first phone call.
Sandi, Office Manager
As Sandi looked for a part-time job many years ago, a friend steered her to the dental field. She found that helping patients with their questions and concerns is a rewarding way to spend the day, and this satisfaction has kept her in the dental field for 18 years and counting.
What Sandi likes best about our office are the patients. "I love greeting them and chatting, and hopefully helping make their visit a pleasant one," Sandi says. She also loves hearing about a patient's satisfaction with a job well done, and the positive impact a smile makeover has made on a patient's life. "And in this office, that happens all the time!" says Sandi.
When she is not working, Sandi enjoys scrapbooking, and spending time with her husband of 30 years, as well as with family and friends.
Jo Ann, Front Office
Jo Ann joined the dental field in an unique way. "I came into the field by being married to the dentist," she says. "It was an offer I couldn't refuse!"
Jo Ann grew up in Totowa, N.J. and attended Montclair University. She loves meeting and chatting with the patients, and making their visit as comfortable as possible. Jo Ann also loves the atmosphere of the office. "I love working with Gary and our great staff. We are all good friends and have a lot of fun in the office," Jo Ann says. When a patient expresses satisfaction with his or her treatment, Jo Ann feels a sense of pride that her husband and the staff provide such good dental care. She enjoys gardening, baking, bird watching and WVU football.
Inga, Front Office
When Inga came into the office to apply for a job, there were two positions available: one in the front office, and one in the clinical end. Her love of talking with people made her opt for the front office, and she's glad she did. "Interaction with our patients is the best part of this job," Inga says. "The most rewarding aspect of my job has to be seeing a patient leave our office with a smiling face. It makes me proud to be a part of the team that made it happen."
Outside the office, Inga enjoys being a wife and a mom to two boys. She also loves sports, fishing and shopping.
Dental Assistants:
Our knowledgeable and professional dental assistants work chairside with Dr. Vander Vliet to maximize the efficiency and smooth flow of your procedure. They also keep our clinical areas organized, and ensure your health and safety by taking care of the sterilization and laboratory procedures.
Dawn, Certified and Registered Dental Assistant
Dawn chose the dental field because she enjoys working with people, and this job allows her to do that every day in a way that is meaningful to their lives. "I am proud to say that I work for an excellent doctor and that we have a great staff," Dawn says. When not assisting the doctor or providing patient comfort, Dawn says that church and family are the most important things to her. She also enjoys cooking, gardening, and exercise.
Beth, Dental Assistant and Licensed X-Ray Technician
Beth joined the dental field because she loves seeing healthy smiles and working with people. “It feels wonderful knowing that patients are very happy with their treatment,” Beth states.
Beth enjoys working for Dr. Vander Vliet “because he’s an excellent doctor and the staff is wonderful to work with.” She also welcomes the opportunity to use her artistic abilities in conjunction with the CEREC to stain and glaze crowns, matching just the right shades to create a perfect smile. To Beth, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing patients walk out of the office with smiles on their faces.
When not working, Beth can be found spending time with her two children, family and friends, or playing field hockey, skiing or running.

Our registered dental hygienists are dedicated to providing you with the highest quality, most up-to-date care available. They constantly build upon their many years of experience by enhancing their skills and learning the latest technology through their commitment to continuing education. This allows them to customize your treatment, based on your specific needs, and find the best options to maximize your smile enhancement.
LaSonia, Registered Dental Hygienist
Originally from Georgia, LaSonia has lived in New Jersey and currently lives in Pennsylvania. Her love for the smile guided her into the dental field. "The smile is your first and lasting impression. It can tell a lot about your character," says LaSonia.
LaSonia earned her AAS Degree in Pre-Dentistry from Union County College, and her AA Degree in Dental Hygiene from UMDNJ/SHRP in Newark. Educating patients and enhancing the smile are what LaSonia loves about her job. "I love interacting and learning about each individual. Every hour I get to see before and after smile improvements," she says. "I also get to prove what I am capable of accomplishing."
LaSonia also enjoys working with our team on a daily basis. "The staff makes my days pleasurable. The laughter, warmth, advice and camaraderie complete the experience," she says. When she is not working, LaSonia also enjoys singing, home decorating, and shopping.
LeeAnn, Registered Dental Hygienist
"The two most rewarding aspects of working with Dr. Vander Vliet are the dedication and attention given to the patient's comfort, care, and treatment, and working with a staff that strives for excellence," says LeeAnn.
LeeAnn entered the dental field, specifically dental hygiene, because it is a great way to help people. By helping them attain and maintain their oral health, she is helping them improve their lives as well. LeeAnn's commitment to patient comfort and knowledge of hygienic practices make her an integral part of each patient's smile.

I went to see my dentist,
Dr. Vander Vliet, for clean up and fillings. After he examined my teeth,
he said with a smile, "You have very healthy teeth now." I told him that he was my best dentist.
For the past 17 years, he took good care of my teeth. He is very careful and thorough.
He always explains to me what he does and why. We talk about our families and our vacations.
We have crossed the line of a professional relationship and become friends. I feel good that
I am not only putting my money where my mouth is but also my trust in a doctor who cares.
